New Business:

Member suggested that we purchase Russian Olive and Pampas grass to plant at the Beach lot in the front and along the Pier side fence
If anyone would like to help, let Terry Zatunian know.
She went to Kitty Hawk nursery and found that it would cost about $300 to plant these plants and to purchase mulch and soil to get the plants started. They need to be watered the first couple of weeks. Awful Arthur's said that we could use their hose. Another member mentioned that KDH will give you mulch for free if they have it. Members voted and approved this project.

A member asked to discuss the mowing at the Sound lot for the summer. Another member suggested that something be put on the website where members could sign up to cut the grass. Lesley will have that done. If no one signs up, we will have to pay to have it cut. We did pay $90 last year to have it cut two times.

There was discussion about whether or not to hire the policemen for Memorial Day again this year for the beach lot access. It was voted and approved to hire them again.

Lesley reminded everyone about the KDH dog law for the beach. Dogs must be on a leash or under voice control before 9 a.m. and after 6 p.m. Between June 5 and September 15. Call dispatch if you have any issues. 473-3444

A member had written in asking about improving the parking lot at the beach. Lesley said that since we are not a business and don't pay taxes, we can"t make improvements to the lot by adding clay or oyster shells due to CAMA.

Lesley announced that this is the last year in her last term as ABIA President. She is working full-time so she will not be at the beach lot as much as she has been. She reminded us that all ABIA members can make sure that people have parking passes displayed for the beach lot.

Lesley also mentioned that the ABIA needs a Secretary. After the meeting, Doris Kimball volunteered to take the office

A member asked how many houses are going to be built where the Tan A Rama used to be. Lesley mentioned that there will be two or three more.

Lesley mentioned that the parking passes have been improved this year.

A member asked if we still had problems with drunks and druggies at the beach lot. He volunteered to take pictures for a file for the ABIA to keep on file to give to police.

One member mentioned that he has called the police  when he is on his way to work at 3:30 a.m. He has seen vehicles parked in out beach lot.

A member asked if we could get recycle bin for the beach lot. There was much discussion about the pros and cons of having one.The main concern was how to handle trash in the bin. Lesley said she would check into it. It costs $8.95 per month.

A member mentioned that we need more volunteers at the beach lot work party next year at 8:30 a.m.
It is always on the morning of the annual meeting to do cleanup and work.
