Annual newsletter 2010

The Avalon Beach Improvement Association will have two meetings on May 1, 2010. The first will be at 8:00AM at the Beach lot to repair sand fences and do a general clean up. The second meeting will be at 7:00PM at the KDH Town Hall to conduct the annual business meeting.

We need two people to become President and Vice President of the association.
Doris Kimbel will remain as Secretary and Carol Sterner as Treasurer. We thank them for their service.

The President’s responsibilities are:
1. Monitor expenditures and co sign checks.
2. Organize and run the annual meeting.
3. Interact with the town and coastal organizations when necessary.
4. Review insurance policy annually.
5. Organize maintenance of the steps, fences, plantings, signs, etc. at both lots.
6. Order the parking passes.

The Vice President’s responsibilities are:
1. Manage the Web site
2. Answer questions from members
3. Provide an annual letter to the Chief of Police to allow officers on the property.

As you can see, you do not have to live in KDH full time to hold office. All of the functions can be done by phone or internet.

The dues for 2010 will remain $25.00. The dues cover the insurance and maintenance for the lots as long as we have volunteers to do the work. The dues also cover the cost of printing the parking passes and newsletter.

Reminder: the trash and recycle cans need to be curbside on Sunday night. If you are leaving the beach on Sunday afternoon please pull them to the curb. If you visit the lot and the empty cans are still at the curb, please pull them back to the steps.

Chip Kendrick has done a great job in keeping the steps to the beach in good shape. He also is always there to help with repairs and clean up. He and I agreed to be Co Vice Presidents for last year. Our term is up. We need two people to step up. It is important to keep ABIA viable.
